The recovery codes are the only thing that matters, at least for a ledger nano s.
The wallet itself is useless. If you have the recovery codes, you can access your money from any ledger out there.
Up to you if you think it’s worth putting a piece of paper in a safe deposit box.

Only the manager can get in the room and they have a bunch of safeguards.
If you used 2 lock boxes at separate branches, you are 100 percent safe

I remember reading the nyt article on those idiots in crypto castle - they have a good chance of being kidnapped imo
