An upstate New York prosecutor announced that a Buffalo man has been charged with murder after fire officials found his girlfriend and a newborn dead while responding to an apartment blaze.
Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane said in a news release that 30-year-old Kidane Haile was arraigned on one count of second-degree murder on Thursday. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Buffalo Fire Department pronounced his girlfriend, 29-year-old Kathleen “Katie” Carrig, and her son, 4-day-old Noah Carrig, dead at the scene of the fire on the first floor of a multifamily residence on October 18. |
