It's today's equivalent of Cabbage Patch dolls or Beanie Babies for oldmos who remember past toy crazes that resulted in ridiculous prices.
The other thing about labubus is that they are sold in blind boxes. For each type of box, there are (I think) 6 common labubus and one limited edition rare labubu. There is only like a 1/72 chance of getting the rare one. Even the common ones can sell for $50 or more on eBay or StockX. But the rare ones sell for hundreds. So for those who think this is flame, the cost of a rare labubu doll is around the market rate for the cost of hiring a sex worker for an hour. |
