the only people I knew who owned FF7 back then were complete and utter losers. And even then I only knew like 2-3 that owned a PS1 with FF7

Every jock and prep I knew fucking loved the N64 though, knew literally dozens of these bros and no one would shit on you for playing Goldeneye or Mario Kart. Even knew some hot chicks who had N64s. It was 100% the "cool" console at the time, probably the most mainstream "cool" until the Wii briefly took that up a little bit (before everyone realized what a fraud the Wii was). No Consoles before or after those two ever compared with normal jocks and preps.

The original Xbox beat the N64 with normies imo. It was totally untainted by Losery Japanese titles. It didn’t sell incredibly well but it was basically the successor to n64.

Over the N64? Preposterous

Everyone had an N64 back in the day, even some girls.

I know one five people at the time who had an OG Xbox. I met a couple people years later to admitting to having one. It was a niche Console. I famous game - halo. I'm a Console guy and never once had a desire to get one. N64 was king, besides the fact that N64 was a full Gen behind it

It was just untainted…. A pure western experience and way way more popular irl than online. More popular than n64? Well, how much did halo sell vs goldeneye? They were in the same league.

Halo sold over 5 million copies, while GoldenEye reached around 8 million copies sold. Champ.

the N64 has probably the most talked about Console lineup of all time, even though they are only talking about 6-8 or so games.

PS1 is just FF7 and MGS these days.

I doubt it even needed to be on 2 discs. Isn’t one disc Leon and the other disc the Woman?

There’s something about FMVs that eludes compression and FF7 has a bunch of them.
