70% of Russians support a cease-fire along current lines. That's where this thing is headed- the collective West secretly supports the same thing. They don't want to spend 100 billion a year on a never-ending quagmire.

What you’re missing is that the point is to continue to deplete Russia’s military

Russia couldn't invade 10 miles into Poland and everyone knows it now. By the time Russian tanks were deployed and ready to invade NATO would have defensive forces in place to meet them that would be 10x stronger than the Ukrainian forces at Avdiivka that Russia is having so much trouble with.

They don't need to deplete their forces- they are exposed as a paper tiger as is.

Well pretty soon they won’t even have the forces to stop an invasion into their own country

The problem is that Russia has done this "ceasefire" bullshit time and time again. And not just in Ukraine. Everyone knows its a 5 year freeze and then Russia blows in again.

Don't think so. This war has not gone remotely like Putin expected when he first invaded. Russia will be happy to get out of this with new territories. Plus in 5 years Ukraine will have defensive fortifications in place that will make the Maginot Line look puny. Plus, I am sure the peace deal will do things like give Russia their frozen reserves back over a period of 15 years or so, requiring them to keep the peace to keep receiving them.

I don't know why don't you ask Shoigu and Peskov who have been publicly begging for negotiations for months.

We can all clearly see that russia is winning so mightily the war should continue indefinitely.
