I wonder if it would be relevant for this conundrum that their very presence here is predicated on evading the US' assertion of jurisdiction over them

"failing to detect" isn't accurate. "Intentionally avoiding the instruments of jurisdictional awareness and assertion" is much more accurate

You're also conflating the subjects of each of your statements. One is aimed at the lawbreakers illegally entering the country. The other is aimed at the children birthed by the lawbreakers

Either way, they shouldn't go back. Instead, the lawbreakers should be rounded up and tossed from helicopters 50 miles off the nearest ocean coast to where they were found

The immigration situation is untenable and it's been shown time and time again that many of these newer immigrants have no respect for American culture and our way of being. Also anti-white discrimination is real and experienced by many in the modern day United States and this must be addressed, or be allowed to be addressed, by actors and agents within the government.

Continued immigration from these regions is a fine prospect under certain auspices but Dems have been going all out to keep these people from integrating and culturally becoming more settled within the American project.

It goes without saying at this point that, "If you have open borders you shortly will find yourself without a state." Many immigrants are not respecting the liberal facets of American culture and the effects of this on your own demographic have been keenly felt, observed, and noted.

This said, we need a sort of "New Deal" to strengthen our ties with South and Central America and shore up the spirit of the Monroe doctrine. Special and certain immigration provisions, open to people willing to break with their ethnic and cultural ties to integrate into the wider American experiment, could be a part of this.

Trump has been fair to decent on the immigration issue all in all but there's only so much that can be done with the current cultural mess left by this foreign promulgated neo-Bolshevik political insanity.

Cuba is doing fine and the doors have been opening now that the Castros are out of power. The main reason rapproachment didn't take place sooner is the very influential Cuban lobby's effects on both the right and the left; it hasn't been an American area of concern for some time

Venezuela's a result of the Chinese push into the region as well as Russian attempts at using Venezuelan oil to further hamper the West's response to the Ukrainian invasion

I think the indictment and arrest of Nicolas Maduro shows there are very few places on earth, maybe China, Russia, and North Korea, where the people aren't subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, so at this point we're only arguing about where the "United States" is.

you can't cite a restriction that was intended reduce (but not eliminate) asylum claims then act like artificially manufacturing that restriction justifies using the law to do something it was never intended to do. this is like shooting someone at 3:59 pm then penalizing him for failing to meet a 4:00 pm deadline.

none of you knuckleheads saying this is a simple, obvious question like benzo actually read the supreme court opinions. all sorts of interesting historical letters and views cited. genuine disagreement among prominent historians what the original textual meaning is. if it's ambiguous, maybe we should err on the side of not handing out citizenship willy nilly unless congress opines.

the language isn't remotely ambiguous. it's three sentences long and it must have been perfectly foreseeable that it would be interpreted to mean exactly what it says. it's not like the citizenship clause was bestowed on us by aliens who were unaware of visiting noncitizens sometimes giving birth to children.

apparently the meaning of words is inadequate to determine the meaning of words. the phrase means "has to follow our laws" and applies to all but like 5 people in the country at any given time (ie people representing foreign governments). if they meant "citizens" then they probably would have used the word "citizens."

Everyone on our soil has to follow our laws. Same as if I were to go to Tokyo today - I would have to follow Japanese law. But I am not subject to their jurisdiction for I am subject to US jurisdiction. jurisdiction being a legal concept (extradition laws, court procedures, counsel requirements, etc)

This is the obvious meaning and intention. It’s sad that it’s been perverted by the few to the detriment of the many.
