Ohio state and Michigan never lose. It's always someone else's fault.

were they beaten by a better team? no way-- loss of poise under pressure, both players and coaches

An unusual and unlucky INT and a similar fumble in the first quarter took likely points away from Texas and gave them to OSU. Those were probably at least a 14 point swing. Take those out, the game would have been pretty close going into the 4th. In other words, the game was much closer than the score suggested, and over a long enough time frame--you play for all 60 minutes--the better team will likely win.

Beyond that, Texas was fired up, believed in themselves, and fought harder. Ryan Day's team folded yet again when faced with competition almost as talented as them. That's 3 losses in their last 4 games. The only W was against a MAC cupcake. Ryan Day has done great in terms of keeping the talent pipeline rolling and not dropping games to inferior teams. He hasn't figured out how to win the tough ones consistently.

And OSU's offense was completely 1 dimensional. 164 of their 268 passing yards were to Jeremiah Smith. They only had 94 rushing yards.

if a team consistently loses to “competition almost as talented as them” then maybe it would be appropriate to re-assess their objective talent, no?

It's really just the big games, and he's very consistent. OSU has lost exactly 2 games each of the last 5 years--quite a streak--mostly to Michigan plus one to another top national title contender each year.

Don't think there is an objective talent issue. Winning that many games is remarkable. They put a ton of guys into the NFL. And their recruiting rankings are consistently in the top 3.

The wild part is after they looked great in the first half they got nowhere near the end zone in the entire 2nd half. Don’t know if that was due to UT adjusting or the fact that they stopped turning the ball over every other series but OSU did not look competent at all after halftime
