Date: August 5th, 2026 5:58 AM Author: DOCTOR Quintessa Hathaway Just heard last night that one of the guys that I grew up with had died. In adolescence, he was one of the cool kids and was a great high school athlete. But he always had a rebellious streak. Always mocking authority, always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder. Unsurprisingly, he got into drugs. Eventually dropped out of college. I hadn't seen him in years. I thought he had grown up and turned his life around, but I guess I was wrong.
Anyway, I started thinking. There was a core group of about 10 cool jocks at my high school. Of these, 3 have died. That 30% death rate is about five times higher than it should be for our age. |
